What are the legacy kids' preferred method of fighting? (or not fighting, if they don't like it)
(some clarification: answering for Caesare, Mella, Deshanna, Gale, Sanea, Luke, and Tommy!)
Caesare (nicknamed Chez) is her parents’ daughter, steadfast and brave. She started learning from both of them to fight with a sword and shield as soon as she could hold the tiny wooden practice weapons made especially for her. As she grew, so did her talents. As an adult, daughter of the Lady Seeker and her husband, Chez is a remarkable warrior who is as hardy and stubborn as her mother and as brave and kind as her father.
Mella, to no one’s surprise, manifested magic at age ten. However, she showed much more interest and talent in healing and elemental magics than her mother’s specialty in combat magic. Nansa was delighted when Mella asked him to teach her how to use a sword. She prefers smaller swords than her father’s two-handed blade, and it leaves a hand free to hold a staff and cast spells.
Deshanna is a formidable talent with her magic. She prefers debate or espionage to direct fighting, but she can hold her own in a battle with fire and lightning magic and the Dalish combat magic Aiyan taught her.
Gale is the only one his father trusts to use Bianca. Gale, like Deshanna, much prefers politics to fighting, but is a deadly shot with a crossbow and decent with a sword for closer combat. (Panna insisted on her son learning to swordfight.)
Sanea is a powerful mage, trained by many of the leading mages of her lifetime, including the Grand Enchanter’s protegé Cohr Rindaryen, Grand Enchanter Vivienne herself, her cousin Magister Dorian Pavus (and his Dalish husband), and the Hawke twins. While her parents made sure she knew how to use conventional weapons as well (though they disagreed on whether it should be daggers or a sword), Sanea greatly prefers her magic to any blade.
Luke, on the other hand, is his father’s son in battle, sword and shield, steadfast and smart. He is his sister’s sworn protector (at least until he marries Princess Hope of Ferelden), and by the Maker, he is good at it. Often, with his steady gaze and unflinching nature, he can intimidate an opponent before any blows are ever exchanged.
Tommy manifested magic as a child, but his parents made sure he knew how to fight with blades as well. Strangely enough, he takes after them in their respective disciplines: form-based and sturdy for the sword, unpredictable and quick with daggers. When those two abilities are combined when he fights with magic, the world should tremble before the half-qunari mage.
