CARIBBEING HOUSE | 5-9pm Mobile art center caribBEING House pops up by our Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden. Contribute to an interactive wall map of Brooklyn's Caribbean heritage, share stories of your Caribbean experience at #MyCaribbeanHeritage, and see photos from the classic film Rockers and from Brooklyn-based documentary photographer Ruddy Roye’s Fine Art of Daggering series.

BACKYARD BASHMENT | 6:00–10:00 p.m.  Brush up your moves in a dancehall workshop by internationally acclaimed choreographer Blacka Di Danca (6 p.m.), hear Majah Hype, one of the Caribbean's funniest comics (7 p.m.), and round out the evening with a live DJ set by MeLo-X (8–10 p.m.).

COMMUNITY SCREENING: FREE PORTRAIT PROJECT | 6:00–7:00 p.m. Artist Rusty Zimmerman presents and discusses his project that captures, through painted portraits and recorded oral histories, one year in the life of Crown Heights residents, documenting a community in transition. #WeAreCrownHeights

FILM: ROCKERS | 6:00 p.m. Revisit the full-length cult classic Rockers (Theodoros Bafaloukos, 1978, 100 min.), which highlights Jamaican reggae culture at its peak, authentically capturing the then-burgeoning musical art form. A must-see for all reggae lovers! Free tickets (310) at Admissions at 5 p.m.

HANDS-ON ART | 6:30–8:30 p.m.  Feel the rhythm and create your own Caribbean-inspired musical instrument! Free tickets (330) at Admissions at 5:30 pm.  

POP-UP GALLERY TALKS: DISGUISE | 6:30–8:30 p.m. Learn about Caribbean and global masquerade traditions during these short talks in the exhibition Disguise: Masks and Global African Art.

BOOK CLUB: DANIELLE BROWN | 7:30 p.m.  Ethnomusicologist Danielle Brown brings West Indian culture to life as she performs and presents excerpts from her memoir, East of Flatbush, North of Love: An Ethnography of Home. The book chronicles Trinidadian music, its impact on the author's immigrant community, and its connection to Brooklyn. Free tickets (40) at Admissions at 6:30 pm.

FILM: BAZODEE | 8:00 p.m. Exploring love and power in Trinidad, Bazodee (Todd Kessler, 2016) is a love story about a man and a woman fighting to overcome cultural barriers. Followed by a Q&A with actor and soca star Machel Montano, writer Claire Ince, and producers Susanne Bohnet and Ancil McKain. Free tickets (310) at Admissions at 7 pm.

KIDS CORNER: STORYTELLING | 8:15–9:00 p.m.  Join folklorist and powerhouse storyteller Linda Humes for an interactive family performance, with tales from the Caribbean and African diaspora.

PERFORMANCE: ALEJANDRO GUZMAN | 9:00 p.m. Disguise artist Alejandro Guzman performs Ganggang: Creative Misunderstanding Series. Featuring Abigail Deville, Christopher Manzione, Clifford Owens, Elan Jurado, Geraldo Mercado, Jessica Gallucci, Marcus Willis, Sam Vernon, Tre Chandler, and William Villalongo.
