matt lifts his gaze from his phone to actually look at mello upon realising that he hasn't heard a grunt, much less an actual word, from him in what must be over half an hour. he considers jabbing the back of mello's head, but figures he doesn't feel like getting punched right now. or worse if mello's actually deep in thought and not just being a shithead.

Regret was something Light was absolutely overwhelmed by, right now. This was his fault and he knew it. He had wanted to spend the weekend at home, to have a small break so he could clear his head. This Near character was making everything so much more complicated and stressful. However, he hadn’t even made it to his apartment when he found himself being dragged off the street and into a vehicle, a gun pointed at his head. There was a sharpness at his neck, and then everything went back.

When he woke, he was barely aware of his surroundings- mostly because he was blindfolded. Based on his ears popping and the pressure in his skull, he assumed he was in a plane or something. “H-...hello..?” He called out in English. “Where am I..?”

She felt a heaviness in her head, it was a burden to think straight. All she wanted to do was walk straight into a destination she didn’t want to go.

"Dude, I swear the other car practically just materialized outta fuckin' nowhere, I had no other options," Matt grumbles back, already concentrating on the laptop more than the all-too-familiar ranting from Mello.

He gives a half-assed nod to his friend when he leaves and mostly ignores the unsubtle questions from the nurse ("No, I don't need a phone number to your LG-whatever-friendly domestic abuse hotline, yes I am sure. Can I get some rest please. No, seriously, go away.") before she finally leaves, too, and he can actually get some work done.

An hour in and he sends Mello a message.
