He's dangerous, a lawman and high-class, the worst combo around. Was the thought running around her head as she observed the stranger in the bar.
Tall, red eyed, gray haired, pale skinned, toned. Carrying a pistol and at least two knifes. Lax and arrogant, thinks or knows anyone that messes with him is going to get fucked over.
Thoughts collected data and ran over it as she watched from her slumped position at the counter.
Reasons for being here unknown. Bar is in one of the lowest tiers of the slums. Trying to provoke someone to give him issues or looking into a crime? She turned her head away and closed her eyes, thinking it over.
Second is unlikely the reason. Higher classed aren't issued to lower levels under any circumstances, and they never bother to come out themselves. First opinion the best one.
Analyze over, Melody sighed and started pushing herself up. She'd write a warning out and scit before any trouble could start up.
Tapping on the ratty wooden counter, she grabbed the bartender's attention made a 'ring me up' gesture. She belatedly remembered to add a 'grab a pen' gesture before he scurried off.
She tilted her head down, giving off a depressed impression and pointedly ignored the angry murmurs starting up behind her.
Melody did look behind as a loud 'thump' came from the lawman's general direction.
Someone got too angry it seems. Melody thought dispassionately as one of the slickster fellows swung at the man.
The man dodged and hit back, getting the mob member right in the eye.
Ouch, but that's just going to encourage the others to join in and try to take you down.
Sure enough, the four other slicksters jumped up and threw themselves at the gray-haired man.
Melody huffed, knowing full well if they didn't knock it off half the bar join in. Flicking a hand at the bartender, she slipped off and started toward the fight.
Pushing at the loose circle that started up in the bar's middle, Melody made her way to the front and watched carefully.
One down, three still going, Lawman is pretty bruised and getting run ragged by them. Melody carefully thought her next course of action over.
They're angry because he's higher classed and want to vent about it. Best to get their attention and have them take that out on me. They'll slink off after they cool down enough after all.
Melody tensed up and, the second the chance came up, sprang.
-
That was not a good idea. She thought blankly. Everything seemed a little too fuzzy, and she could only really hear static and pumping blood.
Melody twitched slightly, vaguely aware of someone holding her upright and tried to focus.
Think. What happened? She knew jumped at some slicksters and tried to get them mad, but her memory seemed to be having some issues sorting out what she did after that.
Melody noticed some voices talking overhead, twitching a little as one she recognized spoke.
Shadow. He left the shack so I did something pretty stupid then.
She listened idly, still not able to make words out, but the general tone told her an argument was happening,
There was an angry noise and Melody found herself readjusted. She huffed a little at that, only perking up when Shadow's tone became a lot closer then before.
She balked when she was picked up, head spinning as she was lifted up and settled in someone's, probably Shadow's, arms.
Melody stared blankly as her brain tried to settle down, coming back to herself as a question tone piped up.
Glancing up, she found herself looking at a pair of interested red eyes and felt her insides freeze as she was carried off.
Lawman. Interested Lawman, that's high-classed and probably very powerful.
