Despite announcing quite clearly his dislike of sports games of any kind, Ryan still ended up attending the one that Melody has spoken to him about. She had mentioned that she didn’t go to them for the game but instead to meet people. Although Ryan was far from the people person, he couldn’t get the idea out of his mind and before he knew it, he was behind the wheel driving to the game.
On the way there, he had considered turning around. He could go to a restaurant instead. Or maybe to a movie. But while his mind was busy thinking of all the alternatives, a part of him was stuck in pilot mode and he found himself pulling into the parking lot of where the game was to be held. It took him a few minutes to find parking but he eventually did. He sat in his car, listening to his own breath and thinking about what he was doing here. He could feel anxiety itching the back of his neck, dying to be brought to the surface. But he brushed it off and told himself it was no big deal. It was just a college game.
Ryan made his way out of his car and began to walk the distance to where the game was being held. He was still clad in what he wore to his classes that day, which consisted of a bright red Minnie Mouse sweater and brown corduroy jeans. He cursed himself for wearing it because it was a lot warmer outside than he was used to; the school was always cold.
Nevertheless, he made his way to the game and soon found himself in a crowd of unfamiliar faces. As others passed by him, Ryan stood at the edge of the bleachers and watched as things seemed to die down. He scanned the crowd, desperately trying to find a familiar face that he could latch onto. But soon the crowd seemed to get louder and music began to blast through the loud speakers. It must be some sort of half-time because people everywhere were beginning to laugh and get up to dance. They all started to bump into Ryan, as he seemed to be placed at the worst spot possible. In the chaos, he tried to move out of the way and ended up nearly knocking someone over. Ryan turned to apologize and realized that the person was Melody.
He laughed, she laughed, everyone was laughing. With a shrug, Ryan eloquently bowed and asked for her hand--which she provided. Soon the two were bumping into everyone as Ryan guided Melody into a grand ballroom dance only seen in 19th century based movies. The two were laughing at the crowds of people laughing at them and in that moment, it was bliss.
