one of the things i've been trying to learn for wave symbol is the neurofunk bass, now used in neuro-hop and dubstep, too.
i've noticed that in my design, a lot of the sub bass is lost with the processing, so i made an extra sub bass to "reinforce the sub". the problem is, i can't seem to get it to glide properly along with the main, textured neuro bass, so it sounds somewhat jarring.
but yeah, once i get that sub proper, i intend to use a similar bass design for at least one song on wave symbol
did a couple of warmups to figure out where i need to be with the album, and here they are.
one was a minimoog (NI Monark) jam session and the other was a break constructed from sliced loops and hard drums in a kit.
they're silly but they were really fun
Louie Day 2: If Not You Then Who (melonmint rework wip)
If you haven't listened to this album yet you really ought to, Spazzkid is the new sweetheart of the lo-fi unquantized beat scene and rightfully so.
His stems are available on his website, and I spent a little time fooling with, chopping up, and rearranging his song "If Not You Then Who"
If you listen to the lyrics of that song, they're quite somber, the message is clear, and I noticed that arranging a few notes of his vocals brings out a phrase,
"i always knew"
i wasn't going to keep it at first, but i thought ol' mark would appreciate that alternate side, maybe the darker, innermost thought within that situation.
anyway it's not done and it's pretty rough, arranged only with the original stems, no extra vsts or samples, but i had a lot of fun with it and i hope to either finish this or do a full-on remix of another one of his great tracks~*~*
i also put it up on soundcloud w/e
Louie Day 1 - Transition Practice!
Okay, so to dive right into it, I like to practice mixing a lot! It’s very centering! I’ll be posting more original stuff in the future but for now I’m practicing for a special DJ set I’m doing with our pal and fellow goof troop bro meishi smile on Saturday, so I thought I’d open this up with a little transitional practice!
In this track, I’m blending "#009999 house mix" by SEKITOVA and “Frowning and Smiling" by Smoke Room. It could use a little more care with using a beatmashed echo trail to fade out the song, I did it too quickly and it sounds just a tiny bit awkward, but I’m still very happy with it~
