Aside from the alcohol stuff I’ve already talked about, yeah, I think I mostly do. But man, every day I thank the deities for the series of events and decisions that resulted in Lee Pace being cast as Thranduil, because I’m 100% sure his face is what single-handedly killed the fandom interpretation of Thran as a drunken, abusive asshole towards Legolas that was so popular back during the first movies. That interpretation I never agreed with at all.

Probably :p I mean I doubt any of Tolkien’s characters like sex (or at least would admit to it in canon) as much as Thranduil does. I also kind of suspect that neither Tolkien nor PJ ever intended for him to have an alcohol problem, but at least in some verses that’s where I’ve taken him (as opposed to the Party King thing). I think it’s kind of hard to say though because Thranduil is just not a very fleshed-out character in canon, so I think it’s hard to say what’s actually different from his canon self and what would have actually been canon if only someone had taken the canon further (and of course this also depends on your interpretation of “canon” when it comes to Tolkien’s work, because Thran is a lot more fleshed out due to the movies now but a lot of people might not count those as true canon, and that’s not even getting into stuff like Silm vs. Unfinished Tales etc.)
