Saw Face/Off for the first time. Its memey reputation led me to expect something different, but this movie comports itself with utter seriousness and sincerity, and that's part of why it works so well. Shamelessly deranged movie that plays itself wholly straight. Phenomenal action movie.
It's a bit of a bummer this movie got memed so much - because it deserves to be remembered for being a genuinely great action movie with amazing performances by Cage and Travolta.
Like...I get it. It's super "funny". The snark! But it's also so incredibly childish (in a bad way) and part of why the memefication of everything on a very public very searchable platform bothers me. If we did that shit back in the day on some maybe even private nerd message boards: OK. But this is...different.
Am I overreacting?? 🤔
