memento // solo
soojung had woken up from the dream in a cold sweat. not that she remembered what she had dreamed of; to her, it was all a blur. but what she felt was far too strong to be a simple dream. she had seen things, she had met people, told things she shouldn’t have said to anyone, and revealed her true self. the latter wasn’t quite embarrassing per se; she just rarely wanted people to know about it. after all, as a hunter, she couldn’t be too weak, or too caring; people would take advantage of her. she’d have to stay tough.
she rolled around in her bed, trying to figure out what the hell had just happened. she couldn’t remember and it pained her...the more she tried to remember, the more she forgot. it was hopeless, she didn’t bother remembering it more, or else she’d forget everything: soojung would just stick with the vague memory of a foggy forest. but as she turned around, she noticed a curious item on her nightstand.
there was...a gun? not any kind of gun though, she knew it was an underwater gun. except...she did not remember owning any? sure, she had a speargun and some tridents, but...an underwater gun? that was much different...and it was no ordinary gun either. it seemed ornate, with peculiar silver engravings adorning the barrel and the grip. perhaps these markings meant something? they seemed familiar to her in a way, maybe she had seen them before. but soojung didn’t know.
next to the gun was a cute little piece of paper, with only two words written on it:
« To Soojung. »
she didn’t know why she had received it, but perhaps it was the key to figuring out all that had happened during the past night. and maybe she’d never find out, but in the end, she would always have this.
