[Nadine pulled at her scarf and jostled her grocery bag as she strode along the sparsely lit streets, empty of all respectable folk. It was nearing midnight, and in the upscale part of town she had business in, all people were respectable and in bed. It was for the best though. The fountain plaza was lit up, stark in the distance against the shadowy buildings.
As she neared it, she began to sense the huge amount of pure, clean water.. A feeling she didn’t think she’d ever get used to, no matter how many cities tossed her aside. But for now, she pushed the thought away and instead focused on the water, heating up, billowing out of its bed of rock. It’d be some work keeping the fog in the air, but it would offer cover if she could make it look natural. So the thick mist spread out, swirling away as Nadine cut through the veil.
It’s be a pity, she thought, that all this water will go to waste. But they seem to fix the fountain and get if flowing properly quickly enough. She smirked at the thought. It was, after all, a part of the reason she had chosen the fountain. It had become something of a symbol for aggressive magic and destructive mages after being broken a few times through what was obviously ill-controlled magic.
She stood in front of the flowing fountain and stopped all movement, holding the water within the pipes, drowning it within itself. Pipes began buckling and cracking, and small jets of water leaked from the main pipe, despite her best efforts. She just had to push it a bit more for it to explode. The pressure was difficult to hold, and required all her focus, so much that the mist thinned and she didn’t sense the person who had come up behind her.]
