Trying scratchboard art for the second time, ( first time was years ago on a cheap scrapeboard lol) i struggled in the first hours starting this piece but i think i am getting the hang of it now 😀
This will be a memorial piece for the best friend i had and shared 10 years of my life with, honestly i owe my life and sanity to this precious soul who was the only thing that dragged me trough the worst periode of my life...end of this month its already 2 years since that day i had to let him go, cant believe how fast time went by and how much i still mis him...
Happy #blackcatappreciationday ! This is Frankie, my best friend’s beautiful cat. Commission of a beautiful pupper in colour pencil. This was a fun challenge as it is a composite of several photos and the client asked me to remove some of the grey hair, returning the doggo to a younger day. I really do enjoy drawing the black dogs! . .
Final image of River, who was such a joy to draw - so many shades of red in her coat and I can't get over that gorgeous snoot! (One of the next things I need to work on is taking better photos of my work....)
End of this month it's Ed's 2 year anniversary so i felt like making a little memorial piece of him, making art of him makes me feel close to him in a way... how time flies!
My second try at scratchboard art but this time on a high quality board from Ampersand (the first one (in the 2nd pic) i did some years ago was on a very cheap cardboard piece that came in a pack of 10, did not allow for a lot of layers, but it was a good surface to start on XD).
Made on small wooden Ampersand scratchboard with various blades and tools and black indian ink.
(Edit) He now has all his whiskers as silly me forgot about some yesterday 🙈
For centuries, sailors believed the sea remembered every journey.
Every departure.
Every return.
And every soul that vanished beyond the horizon.
The ocean was never seen as an ending.
Only a passage.
A threshold between what can be held and what must be carried in the heart.
Ernest Hemingway touched upon this quiet truth in The Old Man and the Sea. The sea was not an enemy, nor merely a place. It was something far greater — a companion to human lives, losses, hopes, and endurance.
Perhaps that is why we are drawn to the water when we remember.
We watch the horizon.
We listen to the waves.
And for a moment, the distance between memory and presence feels smaller.
The deep cobalt finish of The Passage reflects this timeless connection.
Like the sea beneath a clear evening sky, its surface shifts with the light, revealing new depths from every angle. The open center creates a symbolic gateway — a reminder that love does not disappear when a life ends.
It continues.
Flowing quietly through memories, stories, and the moments that remain with us long after farewell.
Not an ending.
Not a goodbye.
Only a passage toward another horizon.
Crafted by Renwed European artisans, The Passage is a handmade urn that blends elegance with sentiment. Suitable for indoors or outdoors, it
