We went through all of my dad’s clothing and some personal items over the weekend. My mom has been anxious to get it out of the house. It was hard and sad. My siblings and I were not ready, but in these situations, I think you just go with the flow the best you can.
Each of the grandkids chose a shirt of my dad’s. The hospice company will make a bear out of it. I’m really glad this is a service they provide. My brothers and I took whatever we wanted, and then the kids, DH, and my SIL did the same. NB chose the hat he’s wearing as a momento and the other boys all chose a baseball cap. They are proudly wearing them this week. Makes me happy and sad at the same time.
DH had a job interview today. He thinks it went well.
E had a very long eye appointment. They want her to quit wearing her glasses for two months and then go back to get checked again. If her eyes are fine, then she won’t need them anymore. Wahoo! She’s actually sad about it so I told her I would buy her some fashion glasses.
I’m taking E and heading to spend one night in the big city over the weekend. It’s our first time doing something like this and I’m looking forward to it. I also have my first cake order since winter this weekend and another quote to work up. I said I would start baking in October but I’m going to try to take it slow because I still feel pretty overwhelmed.
I made chicken pot pie for dinner tonight, and it was a hit. E doesn’t like mushrooms so I skipped those, and added extra carrots and peas. I also used one store bought pie crust and made one. It wasn’t too difficult or time consuming so I’m counting it as a win and adding it to my rotation for fall/winter. https://natashaskitchen.com/chicken-pot-pie-recipe/

Parents know how fast children grow up. No matter how exhausting parenting is, I bet most, if not everyone, would agree that it is one of the best experiences in life.
The sleepless nights, the numbness of your arms as you cradle your little one in your arms, the endless feeding, all of the wonderful and sometimes frustrating sound of your baby’s cries… All of these are what we miss, or what we…
