Does cognitive dissonance make a noise? To one such as Satori, the answer might actually be yes. On one hand, Akyuu is very aware that this is not the same mind reader that treated her injuries with such care and attention. On the other hand, Akyuu’s memory insists that this is probably the only not psychotic youkai in existance not named Yukari Yakumo. Her memory was winning.
She’s come for a visit? That’s a good sign, maybe Satori-youkai are actually naturally friendly? Akyuu thought as she turned to face her new guest. So distracted by her own thoughts, Akyuu had completely failed to notice or pick up on the unimpressed tone Satori had taken; something Akyuu would almost certainly kick herself for later.
Akyuu carefully stepped into the room quickly glancing down to make sure she wasn’t about to trip. Ten years ago she had tripped on the door frame to this very room, something that she always remembered briefly when entering.
Gods, here I am being so informal to a guest! Well, it can’t be helped. I should try and make up for it.
“To what do I owe the pleasure Ms. Komeiji?” Akyuu asked as she took a seat facing Satori.
Evidently, it has also gone amiss Akyuu’s every thought is being dissected in real time. That would be remedied shortly.
Satori had refrained from commentary to start things off, mostly to focus on the many thoughts buzzing through Akyuu’s brain, and trying to deduce why she was thinking as if she knew her. She saw references to meetings in vivid details which did not take place (to Satori’s memory, at least), which eventually lead her to believe that this was one of those...alternate-things. She didn’t know how it worked, because no one knew how it worked. They just accepted it. So she would too.
“I prefer informal.” Live mental commentary is a go now, it seems. Satori remained standing and shifted weight to one leg, arms crossed loosely in front of her, expression unchanged and uninspired. “It’s come to my attention that there is a book I haven’t read here. I like to read.”
A beat. “Yes, that one. Or those. The first seems interesting. Would it be your life’s work, or lives’ work?”
