How to help a child with ADHD Manage distractibility?
It is usual for students with ADHD to get distracted easily. Noises, outside activities, and even self-thoughts can quickly get a child’s mind away from the subject taught in the class. It is often difficult for such kids to stay focused on tasks that involve sustained attention and mental efforts. Inattention eventually leads to low memory.
• These kids can be helped by moving distractive element away from them and breaking long assignments into short, manageable tasks.
• Place the child with ADHD away from windows and doors.
• Keep the pets away from the child when he is involved in studies.
• Make the child perform activities that involve body movements.
• Place the information and instructions when the child can see it. Always remind him from where to get the information if needed.
• When assigning a project to the student, it is often better to break large projects into smaller ones.
