I pull myself into meditation, in the pitch black stillness of a humid night ahead of storms to come.
I asked for my spirit guides, my deities, my ancestors to hear me. I have been striving for a goal for ages, for fifteen years now, and I feel as lost as ever. It feels like every path I start following, thinking I've finally found my way through, leads only to another dead end, and I remain location locked and locked out of access due to money.
They show me a red sunrise behind a dark mountain. A river of cranes flowing over the Rockies from the east, diving down to golden wetlands. Men with guns appear from the grasses, firing into their midst, killing many, scattering the remainders to the south and west and north of the continent. It looks hopeless.
Time passes, and people emerge to tend to the wounded, and mourn the dead. Different people. A celebration is had for the lives lost. The wetlands turn green. New crowds of people show up, aiming high, but they take only photographs. The cranes fly over the mountains again.
"YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT TO DO. FOLLOW THE CRANES."
I can't say I do know what to do, hence why I reached out. It feels like the answer is obvious to everyone but me. I express this frustration.
A much fainter, quieter image appears. A wood sign with a familiar font, an entrance to a park at dawn, conifer trees shaded in purple twilight. Look for postings here, I ask? A softer voice says yes. I am hesitant to trust this given the current state of funding and political climate, but it is the answer I've been handed nonetheless.
