Hey, I’m not sure if this has been answered already (I tried looking but didn’t find anything) but I had a question about Ments. Specifically, their abilities. Nick inherited his parents’ powers, but is that usual? Are a child’s abilities determined by their parents?

There’s a genetic component to Ment abilities (Chapter 1 touches upon how Pollard scores are inherited if you drive to Aeon with K). Two Ments will usually have a Ment child, but that child will likely only inherit one of their Ment parents’ abilities. If a Ment and a norm have a kid, then that child will most likely not have powers. 

Nick is a special case, because he got both telepathy from John and telemetry from Hope.

Button is a special case, too, because they got neither.

The specifics and history of Ments will be gone over in depth when the final game releases with the “Aeon Student Guide” in the stat screen. The Guide will build upon the lore for those curious, but it won’t be necessary to understand Mind Blind’s story. Questions like this are great though, because it gives me an idea of the kind of information that should be included in the Guide!
