The Mythology behind Blue exorcist: Mephistopheles
German legend based on Renaissance Literature piece and historical figure Johan Georg Faust.
The word may derive from the Hebrew (mêp̄îṣ, “scatterer/disperser”) and tophel (short for tōp̄el šeqer, “plasterer of lies”).
The name may also be a combo of 3 Greek words: με (me), φῶς (phōs, “light”) and φιλις (philis, “loving”), making it “not-light-loving”, possibly parodying the Latin “Lucifer” or “light-bearer”
Mephisto pheles: In the legend, Faust makes a deal with the Devil at the price of his soul, Mephistopheles acting as the Devil's agent.
A young man called Johann Faust is highly successful yet dissatisfied with his life. This boundless desire for knowledge led him to conjure the devil and make a pact for 24 years with the Devil , exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures.
The difference in interpretations vary with Mephistopheles is either already trapped in his own Hell by serving the Devil or is the devil
The devil produces a servant Christoph Wagner and a poodle to accompany Faust in his adventure.
