Last year was the first year I attended university. The school I was going to was a 3.5 hour drive away from where I live, and was in Northern Ontario (with crappy weather and nothing to do), where I knew only 1 person upon arrival. I was scared to start at a new school, with new people, and it was hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I wouldn’t be able to see my friends or family for an extended period of time. During exam time, I was extremely stressed out from the amount of information I needed to study, and I was feeling very homesick. 

One day, I was studying at the school’s library, and I guess I looked upset. Somebody I didn’t know came up to me and slipped a piece of paper under my laptop. I figured it was someone flirting with me, so I didn’t turn around or look at the paper. Later on, I looked to see what it said, and it was this note. The happiness and gratitude I had for this person was phenomenal. I’ve kept it on my laptop ever since. Every time I look at it, it reminds me to stay grounded and focused. Be kind to one another, people. Something as simple as this can really brighten a person’s day. Thank you, anonymous person.
