Some Stills of My Newest Merdette Edit and the Headcanons to each:
I hope That tomorrow you act with a little more dignity:
When Odette and Merante were younger they often went to the Pub. It was a time of freedom for them. Odette went earlier than Louis and it was her time to dance as her mind made her. She danced careless and wild, far away from any kind of judgement.
It was a late evening when Louis discovered her. He went to the Pub out of interest and out of boredom but something pulled him her. He watched her and was even more amazed by her dancing in the pub, than he was at her dancing in the Opera. It felt more real. More personal. Like he had just seen the most vulnerable version of Odette. It wasnât her fault when someone drunk let his bottle fall and Odette stepped on hit. It was a simple reaction to catch her and yet she stared at him, his hand wrapped around her waist. He smiled shyly at her and said one simpel sentence: âI hope that tomorrow you act with a little more dignityâ
2. You have the lightness of a depressed elephant!
It was the thing these two heard the most in their time as younger students. It was the same thing their teacher would say, whenever Odette missed a step, Merantes hands were on the wrong spot of their dance didnât vibe the right way. It was a habit when these two used this sentence.
3. You dance with right hereâŠ
Merante had often watched Odette fail. Not in a bad way, it didnât made her a bad ballerina but in a way that was human. A way that after a long of studying her lessons the next morning werenât perfect. It happened, that Odette forgot why she was dancing or even how to dance. Not because she couldnât more in a way of her body couldnât remember. He sighed lightly and always went to her after a few miserable tries. He kneeled in front of the young woman, tears in her eyes. âYou know why you dance and how.â
âI canât rememberâ
âYou can. You dance with right hereâ
4. After ten years of cleaning you pick stuff up
It was the standard sentence when employees asked the cleaner how she knows so much about dancing. About choreographies, the music even the costumes. She never told them, never wanted to see pity in their eyes. Odette tried to calm them down with this sentence. She knever knew anything out of her past, she had always picked it up over the years.
Some MĂ©rante and Odette drawings âŁ
Happy birthday, @livehorses :-)
FĂ©licie didnât think she could get this excited over a piece of paper.
Well, there was that time she got super excited about the picture of the Paris Opera that Victor had shown her, but the situation at hand was a whole new realm of excitement.
There was this document, full of serious-looking lines that proclaimed important-sounding words. This seemingly ordinary sheet was making FĂ©licieâs heart beat leap, spin and tap-dance. And when Mama and Papa wrote their names on it, the euphoric can-can filled all of her blood vessels.
That moment, the adoption procedure was finalized. Félicie was now allowed to introduce herself as Félicie Mérante, daughter of Odette and Louis Mérante. They were now officially and irrevocably her Mama and Papa, and nobody in the world could do anything about it.
I absolutely, undeniably adore Ballerina/Leap! (2016). Mainly for its characters, like Odette, MĂ©rante, Camille, Odette, the headmaster of the OpĂ©ra whose name I canât seem to ever remember, MĂ©rante, Odette, FĂ©licie, Nora & Dora, and did I already say Odette?
I mean, sheâs awesome! For me sheâs the best character by far, and by far I mean the distance btwn here and the moon. Sheâs so perfect I could cry! But sheâs not given even a tiny bit of background apart for two single fucking sentences MĂ©rante says!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I decided to write fanfics abt her and her past and explore a bit of that foggy background theyâve decided to give us! And also I did this drawing, today! I really donât think dancers go around w loose hair, but yâknow, hairpins donât always stay in place, and Odette really doesnât care. She just dances.
And so, really, this is it :)
