Situation worsens in Wideplain

Rivertown Daily Tattler: News

RMG 6pm - Confused reports are arriving about the situation at Wideplain.  The fortress has been either been besieged by a large force of either dwarven soldiers working as freelance mercenaries, or by a larger force of orcish raiders from Dareog.  

While distant, the March of Wideplain acts as a significant deterrent to all invaders of Careoth, whether they be barbarian, orc, or dwarf.  If the fortress was to fall, it would leave a clear path across the Great Grass Sea to Rivertown.  

When presented with the evidence gathered so far, representatives of the Marquis have no comment at this time, but did tell this reporter to "Bugger off and stop spreading rumours".  We will take that as a "no comment" at this time.  It is coincidental that this situation occurs when the Marquis is away at court.  We can only hope that the seneschal is up to the task of defending Hollymarch in case of invasion.
