SURPRISE IS HARD TO COME BY when you’ve lived like this for so many years. Blood, bickering, benevolence, none of it makes any difference. None of it, deserves a real blink of an eye. However, there might have been a second glance when it came to this. Another midnight excuse to come calling to the devil himself, another reason for the knock at the door to make the corner of his mouth tug upwards instead of his eyes roll. Was that what affection felt like, tasted like, looked like? He wasn’t sure, hell, he wasn’t even sure he wanted to know the answer, honestly. Regardless, the sound of the heavy legs of his desk chair pushing backwards seemed to echo through the house like a warning.

It wasn’t until after he stood, a single, ink covered hand smoothed across the wrinkles in the dress shirt he still wore. It was open, and it presented him like some sort of rich masterpiece, the frame to the artwork that littered his body with stories of ink and too much time. The door was eventually pulled open, looking down because he had yet to meet anyone who could successfully pass as taller than he was. Bright eyes purposely feigned and fabricated surprise. “Last time I saw you, I was told I had ten more minutes to live and breathe.” Slowly, the sleeve of that shirt was rolled back, one, before the other, to reveal his watch and take a single dramatized glance.

It was only after he’d done this that he would look up again. “I’m starting to think you can’t fucking tell time, darlin.” @merckki​

A PERFECT VICTIM RARELY PRESENTED ITSELF, but miracles worked both ways ( a secret that heaven didn’t want hell to tell ). The smirk on her features could easily be shoved off, ignored, pretending it was something akin to secondhand affection, but really? The only thing Devya had to be thankful for, appreciative of, or attracted to right now? Well, that was the smell of blood in the proverbial water, and she had always sat very nicely, in a pair of thrones with her sister, at the top of the food chain. Shoulders rolled loose tension, before sing song touched usually hoarse vocals with care. “ I think...this one, Isadora, is dying to be painted red and white before a proper send off?” @merckki​

THE VIEW FROM THE TOP, literally and figuratively, was always something that she enjoyed. Self sabotage was at its purest when ego was allowed a full stretch of its legs, quite honestly, and honestly? She’d deserved the entire thing, ten fold, really. Skill was something that had been drilled into her, and now it was wielded from fingertips as if they’d been designed for success, and only that. The corner of mouth was cocked up, enjoying the smug satisfaction in being able to push just the right buttons, to cater the reaction to what she wanted, and how she’d wanted it. Shoulder shoved a little bit, idly allowing nails to dig at a scar that was taking too long to heal - the distraction of pain was always welcomed - before chuckling. “Well, she finally admitted that she wants the fucking eye and whether she knows it or not, that means she’s willing to do quite a lot to get it.”  @merckki​

AMUSEMENT BLEEDS FROM HIM like an open wound. It’s rare he gets the chance to indulge, considering that he and Ayda were always, and would always be, some sort of unexplored territory. If anyone knew what it was like to hide though, oh god, was it him. He hadn’t even felt at home in his own skin for decades, spending years hiding behind someone else’s eyes quite literally. This though, this was light. Things had been, for suspiciously long, which was probably why the grin that clung to features was kissed with a deviance that said he’d always miss this, the parts of himself that had been lost, morals...were a motherfucker, as they never grew back. “First of all, it’s snow, stop acting like you’re going to melt.” A hand reaches out like he intends to touch her, but knows better, or thinks better, is more like it. Fingers pulled back with equal dramatics, before shifting the bag digging into defined shoulder. “Second, you realize I’m about to have to spider monkey this shit, right?” @merckki
