I think c!Phil has what I like to call a father complex

It’s not quite a savior complex but it’s pretty close

He needs to have someone rely on him like a child would, need them to listen to him like a child would but also be old enough to take care of themselves when he doesn’t want to

When Wilbur died he started looking after Fundy

When Fundy ‘betrayed’ him(tbh I don’t remember enough their relationship to call it anything except Phil was unhappy and disowned him) Tommy was with Techno so he could take care of him

When Tommy ‘betrayed’ Techno he took in Ranboo

And now that Ranboo’s dead he’s taking care of Tommy again

He thinks he knows best because of his immortality and he ‘raisins and cares for’ these kids to try and prove it but the thing is he’s wrong

He tries to teach them lessons but those lesson aren’t helpful at best or outright hurtful at worst

He lacks the ability to truly care for them due to his disconnect from mortality leading to him finding a new kid to ‘care for’ once the previous one is gone

He tends to end up in a position of power in vulnerable peoples lives (Tommy in exile and when Dream broke out, Fundy after his dad died, who Philza literally killed, Ranboo after Doomsday though he’s always in a mentally vulnerable position due to his memory issues)

And his ‘children’ never come out unscathed

Phil killed Wilbur

Tommy came out hating who he has become and who knows where he’s end up now

Fundy’s relationship with Phil ended in the butcher army (like I said, I don’t have much insight into the nuances of their relationship so I’m keeping it brief)

You thinks he learn, or at least see the pattern but he’s too caught up in his own head where he’s right all the time and everyone follows his ideology(which he doesn’t even follow)

He’s less forceful about then people like Dream and Techno but he does still use force

Destroying L’manberg to teach people ‘a lesson’ and making Tommy burn things in his latest stream are some examples

He seems to view himself as this caring teaching father who is helping everyone grow and teaching them lesson but in reality he’s just forcing his godly ideologies onto others

(I’m half asleep and running off the anger if Phil’s treatment of Tommy in the last stream but tldr; Phil is a toxic father figure who puts himself in that place in peoples lives and thinks he knows all)

holy shit you’re right. his character is so out of touch with reality and he’s such a fucked up bastard, it makes me so angry. he’s as if the song “mother knows best” was a person but like, less intense. someone get the old man a room in the retirement and let the old folks there humble him in a game of go fish
