the show tonight was really fun, and i wish you all could have been there with me!!
it was all new music, as promised, except, technically, the nat king cole song, but he did it way differently.
there was a good mix of sound, but it was mostly folk rock type songs.
particular favorites? the one i chose, nevernot (he said it’s one word but the lyrics are i’ll never not be in love with you), and oblivious olivia (so funny and fun).
he didn’t talk much, because he wanted to get through all of the new songs. some are actually very old songs he just started working on again. claire is one of those. it’s a great song, too.
he really just finished these songs in the last four weeks, and the band hadn’t heard them until three days ago, but they were fantastic.
augie came on and played sax and kellen trumpet. otherwise, it was the usual folks in the band.
he’s not sure if he’ll record the songs or someone else will, etc.
i wish wish wish i could have taken video but they literally locked up all phones and smart watches.
can’t wait to see him in wilmington in may when i will do my best to take great vids!!
