Happy MerMay! Do you think the Merderers would accept Mersupials!Bruce as their father?
Oh I definitely think the merderers would accept a mersupial Bruce as their father (barring any species vs species conflict, but lets assume Mers don't kill other mers on sight).
Bruce is extremely paternal in Mersupials because of the type of species I created for them. Like in my head, males of the mersupial species are bent towards babies because of their social structure. In the wild, males mersupials live in large family pods that care for their young collectively. Babies are passed between pouches, parental care is spread between siblings and unrelated podmates, and young males are not expected to ever leave the pod they were born into. Females tend to strike out on their own around adolescence, but if a male leaves the pod, it's usually because he was forced (i.e. ousted because of egregious behaviour or stolen by a female to be her mate) and it's treated like a tragedy.
So a mersupial Bruce in like hardwired to accept two male pups into the pod and would likely raise them as his own. Honestly, I think the merderers would be totally okay with that. I think, as a species, they are less social than the mersupials, but they are still social to some degree. I image the form pods more similar to wolf packs with the focus being on hunting strategy rather than raising young. The biggest conflict between mers would probably be Bruce's overbearing parental attention and his desire to keep them in pod when at some point they want to go out and hunt on their own.
Actually, the absolute biggest conflict would probably be between the merderers and Clark. The merderers will kill and definitely will eat humans, but I also think they would go for easier prey if presented the opportunity. Still though, Clark would be very food shaped and they could want a nibble.
