Time for me to do one of the things that I do best. It's another mini essay and this time it has nothing to do with wrestling or anything else on that matter.
In Washington State in a city called Tacoma, down south from where I live, there has been some major news going on at a high school. A female teacher by the name of Meredith Powell had been caught doing sexual acts on a few students. She has lost her teaching certificate and will be on trial.
That makes me mad, but there is something else that just makes it worse.
Grown men posting on comment boards and Facebook with quotes like this:
"I would ask for extra help! That kid is lucky!"
"All I had was old hags for teachers, I wish she was around when I was in high school!"
Really people?! Imagine if your teenage son or daughter were in that situation? Do you know how scared and embarrassed they would be? 17 year old's are still developing. When something like that happens when they are not ready for it can confuse them. The lines will be blurred for them. This teacher was in a position of trust and she forever broke it. She will forever go on as the teacher that broke the trust of the community.
It takes incredible courage to come forth with something like that. It's just like what happened to the people in the Jerry Sandusky scandal. It might of taken them a long time to come forth, but they did it. I support the students who told their parents about what happened. It was incredible courage and some people may make fun of them, but they did the right thing. They took a monster down.
Before people start making more moronic statements on how hot this person think about the situation. She is going to trial and will be labeled a pedophile for the rest of her life. Now it would be a different story if she was having sex with former students that are 18 and not in high school anymore. She was doing it to her current students that's the major problem. The students she is responsible for.
