Suspicions ll MeredithxCarter
About a week had elapsed since the day she'd ran into Seth and he'd told her an apparent truth she hadn't wanted to hear. And yet since then, she couldn't get that conversation out of her mind. No matter how many times she tried to come up with some excuse, some way to shoot down the claim he'd made - she felt as though the truth was staring her in the face.
Seth wouldn't lie about breaking a girl's arm. He wouldn't want to. And he certainly wouldn't joke about it in order to scare her. They had their mind-games but that was far-fetched, and Meredith knew it.
And although that fact was scary enough (if she admitted it to herself...), what was even more frightening was the implied logic behind it. Couples had fights, some even got violent - but to break someone's arm didn't happen by chance or in a random instant, as Sofia had implied. And for it to happen that way... Meredith's mind instantly traveled to Carter; to the way he'd accidentally attacked her while in werewolf form that one night, months ago. She also thought of how he'd told her that many werewolves were temperamental, even while in human form, himself being - one of the few exceptions.
And she'd tried to shut down the idea as soon as it had popped into her head. It was the last possibility she wanted to think of regarding Seth's loss of control. It was true, they'd never gotten along. But she wasn't willing to believe that about a kid she'd known ever since grade-school, and one who'd always been harmless in her eyes. A teasing nuisance? Yes. A violent supernatural prone to losses of control? No.
And so that's how she found herself outside of Carter's house, a week after her run-in with Seth, mind laden with questions. She called out to him a few times, but heard his music blaring from inside. And so Meredith invited herself in as she had so many times before, and marched up to his bedroom before giving a resounding knock.
"Hey! Cart! We need to talk."
