HEADCANON TIME- relationship edition

Note: these are the cannon/implied/non cannon relationships I ship, and my view of their orientations, sexualities, gender identities, etc. This is just my opinion. You are welcome to disagree, but I will not take any slander.

Entrapdak: Entrapta(she/her/it) is aromantic bisexual, she and Hordak (cishet, on the aro spectrum, he/him) are queerplatonic partners! They spend the rest of their days building robots together. 

Catradora: Catra(she/they) is ace/demi, and Adora(she/her) doesn’t really care; s3x isn’t an important part of their relationship, if it even happens at all. They got married and were only planning on having one kid (Finn), but Catra accidentally got pregnant again (don’t ask me how) and then they just kept going. They ended up with 3 or 4 kids. They adopt 16 (I don’t even know if I’m exaggerating) cats. 

Glimbow: Bow is a bi trans guy(he/him) and Glimmer (she/her) is bi as well. They get married, and Glimmer isn’t sure she ever wants kids. Bow does, but he’s happy to wait until Glimmer is comfortable, and if she decides she never wants kids, he’ll be okay with that too. Bow also has a pet bird. 

Scorfuma/Huntuma???: Scorpia (she/they/he) is queer, Perfuma (she/they) is a trans woman and pansexual and panromantic. Perfuma is polyamorous, and in a relationship with Huntara (she/her) as well. Scorpia and Perfuma get married have like... so many kids; Perfuma and Huntara are partners but never get married or have kids. They do adopt a dog, and as much as Huntara tries to act annoyed, she (not very) secretly loves the dog almost as much as she loves her partner.

 Mermistahawk?: Mermista(she/her) is ~straight~ but also women??? She’s a bit confused. Sea Hawk (he/him) is the most cis het guy you’ll ever meet but he’s a great ally. They’re technically married for like... legal reasons, Merista being the ruler of Salineas and all, but they refer to the other as their partner because they don’t think of themselves as being married or being husband and wife. To everybody’s surprise, Mermista really wants kids, as does Sea Hawk (nobody trusts him with a baby), but Mermista has a really hard time getting pregnant. They started looking into other options, and then Mermista suddenly got pregnant somehow? I mean we all know how but it was very surprising. Seahawk was the dad who tried to take his 3 year old kid out on a boat and light it on fire. Mermista was a helicopter parent except she knew that wasn’t going to be helpful so she worked through it with Sea Hawk and Perfuma (her therapist)

hi! i saw in ur bio that dms aren't welcome so i'm sending u an ask! ok. so for context, i'm the anon from before (the post u reblogged!) and i briefly looked through the tags of their url and it mainly looked like they've gone through a lot of anti-black rhetoric and have to deal with a lot of invalidating stuff. i didn't look at their profile or posts, so that's definitely my bad for not researching her more. the main stuff i saw under the tag was them being attacked, and nothing about the bi/pan lesbian discourse. ok so after my ask got answered, i looked into her more and saw that she excluded mspec lesbians. ig my main question is, (and i promise i've researched this before, i just haven't gotten a clear answer from the interwebs) how can someone be a lesbian if they're attracted to men? ofc mspec lesbians are queer/lgbtq, because their attraction falls outside of the heterosexual norm, but i guess i don't understand how they're lesbians! i mean no hate or disrespect, genuinely! before i did my research, i was openly dismissive of that community, but i've looked more into it now and i slightly understand, and i believe they're queer and lgbtq! i just, like i said hgfjdkfj, don't really get how they fall under the lesbian label, if that makes sense? no disrespect or hate, i just really don't understand and you seem like a really well educated person /gen <3 (2/2)

Well I’m not a lesbian myself, so someone who is feel free to add on, but it’s really not complicated at all!

Mspec does not equal “attracted to men”.

Mspec is short for multispectrum, AKA, attraction to multiple genders.

Mspec lesbians are attracted to women and nonbinary people.

“Definitely soley a woman” is one gender, and “nonbinary” encompasses the countless genders that fall between “Definitely soley a woman” and “definitely soley a man”. 

Here’s a very simplified depiction made in MS Paint.

This is super super simplified because I’m using MS Paint lol.

The main key thing is that mspec lesbians are lesbians who are attracted to more than one gender. They are attracted to women, and nonbinary people. “woman” is a gender”, and “nonbinary” is many genders, which means they’re attracted to multiple genders.

The same goes for mspec gay people. They’re attracted to men, and nonbinary people.

Here’s another super simplified example, where the purple highlights indicate the people an mspec lesbian might be attracted to:

This is again super simplified because it’s MS Paint.

Mspec lesbians are attracted to women, and they’re attracted to nonbinary people.

A lesbian experiencing attraction to multiple genders doesn’t inherently include men, and a gay man experiencing attraction to multiple genders doesn’t inherently include women.

Lots of people identify specifically as an msepc lesbian or an mspec gay person because they don’t want to misgender nonbinary people by including them in an attraction that usually means “I’m attracted to women” or “I’m attracted to men”. 

Some nonbinary people are perfectly fine with being “filed under that category”, but some of them aren’t.

And this isn’t the only angle to consider!

There’s also the split attraction model (sometimes abbreviated to SAM), where people define the “split” in the way they experience attraction, usually into romantic attraction and sexual attraction. For some people, romantic and sexual attraction are inherently linked and can’t be separated, but some people experience them in different ways, which is what the split attraction model is for.

An mspec lesbian might also use the split attraction model, being attracted to women either romantically or sexually, and experience other types of attractions for other genders. The same goes for mspec gay people.

Also, historically, “lesbian” has always meant “a woman who is attracted to other women”. It doesn’t inherently mean “a woman who is exclusively attracted only to other women”. Bisexual people were considered lesbians because they were women attracted to women.

The term “sapphic” means women who are attracted to other women, based on the poet Sappho, who was famous for her attraction to women. She lived on the island of Lesbos, which is where the word “lesbian” came from! And she didn’t just write poems about being attracted to women, she wrote them about men as well, indicating that she herself was also mspec!

TERFS have been the main people pressing this idea that lesbian means “exclusive attraction to women”, because they are transphobic and don’t see transwomen as real women, and insist that they’re “actually men”, and therefore, lesbians cannot ever be attracted to them.

The hatred for mspec lesbians also involves a whole shit ton of misogyny and victim blaming. People argue that “saying lesbians are attracted to men is why men assault lesbians!”

First of all, that’s not what mspec means. Second of all, women being attracted to men are not the reason men are misogynists. That’s literally just victim blaming. 

And again, this is TERF rhetoric. TERFs argue that men are inherently violent and predatory, and being near them is inherently dangerous, and women who are attracted to men are “Asking for it” because they’re “choosing to put themselves in that situation” and “of course she was abused, she was dating a man!”.

It is victim blaming and TERF rhetoric to argue that women being attracted to men is why men attack women, and this argument is also used against bi , pan, and other mspec women regardless of their other labels. 

Women being attracted to men are not asking to be attacked or abused, and they are not the cause of other women being attacked or abused.

The only person to blame when someone is attacked is the attacker.

Mspec lesbians and gay people do not invalidate or endanger or hurt anyone.

Mspec = attraction to multiple genders

attraction to multiple genders does not inherently mean attraction to all genders

runa!!! She and Toga and Shigaraki would be besties. No question cause it’s like. If you take Shigaraki’s gaming tendencies and scary factor, and Toga’s eccentricness and flip a switch emotions plus the oh wow she is dangerous then you have Runa!!! (also Runa’s lollipops and Toga’s blood)

Kirari would be a student of All For One. They both think of people as pawns or fishes and they both have tendencies to risk a shit ton (head of the momobami clan plus student council president title, and literally his life for ofa) and are bone-chilling. like you walk into a room with them and it’s like sulfuric acid is in the air. i would never call them friends because they both would never deign to have friends.

Itsuki would be friends with Uraraka. sweet and bubbly but strong and determined when the time comes. not afraid to fuck other people’s shit up but also cares about their friends

Ryota. Okay so i debated about this one for a while, but he would be friends with Iida. And I say this because they’re both kinda. sticklers for rules? like they seem innocent and seem like they would do nothing against the rules but then every once in a while they come to fuck someone’s shit up or do something completely “what the fuck dude i didn’t know you had that in you” you know? (iida with stain and ryota with the tarot cards)
