Meroitic inscription from the ancient kingdom of Kush (modern-day Sudan)
Meroë Head of Augustus found in modern-day Sudan. It most probably comes from a statue stolen during the Kushite raid to Roman Egypt in 24 BC, after which it was ritualistically beheaded and buried as a sign of defeating and humbling the enemy.
