Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night...
So the past couple of days went as expected. I had a lovely dinner at my Aunt Rosemary’s house last night. A small, quiet affair. It was positive and relaxing. The conversation was comfortable. Overall an enjoyable evening with that portion of the family. It felt like how Christmas should be. Almost as if the holiday wasn’t so hard after all, at least for a short while. Afterward, I went home, put on my fuzzy pajamas, exchanged presents with my parents and siblings and watched The Christmas Story. Today started out quite pleasant. We had a family breakfast (minus Melissa since she had to work). After cleaning up and doing the dishes, I decided to relax before going to my cousin’s house this evening. In my efforts to relax some, I put on some records. My sister had gotten me two new ones this year. The first being Sam Smith “The Lonely Hour” which is just beautiful in my opinion. I had a love affair with Adele’s “21” album and it feels very much like the male version of that. If that makes sense. The album just hits me on an emotional level like hers does. Perhaps its the lyrics, the way he sings the words… or just a mix of both and how I’ve been feeling lately making it hit me so. Whatever it is, an amazing album. The other album was given to me in humor. I have made it know my dislike for a certain Taylor Swift song. So my sister felt it was only appropriate to buy me the album. Much to my surprise, I love every song, but that one song of course. Who would’ve thought?! The last album I listened to was The Carpenter’s Christmas. It always gives that classic holiday feel. Maybe its just hearing it growing up that makes it so nostalgic. It was a must for me today.
Okay… on to my family Christmas gathering. This was quite different from last night’s dinner. More people, less comfortable conversation, but not completely tragic. I dont have much of a connection with my cousins and their girlfriend /fiancee. It makes conversation difficult and uncomfortable. I could handle that for the most part. My cousin, who I had talked to about some problems before said something that bothered me. I was talking with her one on one and confided in her about some things, including my troubles with my anxiety. As I have confided in her before, I didnt think anything of it. I slipped to her that I started my meds again, to which she gave me her opinion about not needing meds to fix myself. I have a hard time with this issue. And wont get into my thoughts on it now, other than I felt judged for having to rely on medication for help. I felt so anxious to get out. I managed to excuse myself from the conversation without looking completely rude, upset or embarrassed. I took a break and quickly got my thoughts together for my return to the table. The remainder of the night was calm. I had a wonderful talk with my brother on the way home.
And that brings me to the end of my Christmas day. I lay here thankful for my parents, my siblings, my wonderful friends and know I’m blessed to have them. I have struggled lately, but thinking about the people who love and support me makes me realize I have so much to work for… not just for me, but for them. I will use the next year to reflect and build on hope for the new year ahead!
Merry Christmas!
I dunno if it's normal to talk like it's an interview
I always imagine scenarios on how'd Id react to certain things. Steph getting a star named after her makes me kinda salty..& I'll respond in the only way I can since lebron returns to miami today. "Um, right now I have a lot of mixed emotions. I'm happy at the progress I've made. And am really happy with the group of guys I'm with. But, I'll always remember my time with them. Those people were as close as I could possibly be. I loved those girls. They were some of my closest friends. It's tough to see them so happy, while I'm here, just trying to get by. It's tough that I still haven't gotten what I truly want, the one thing that has alluded me. But, I understand it's a process. So, at the end of the day I'm happy for those girls. I just wish it could have been me. But, I'm focused on these new group of guys. They are all special and I trust them. I've found some good people here."
