that year i learned how not to live with people, how not to fall in love, how not to trust veterinarians with my loved ones, how not to trust all punk rock icons or political icons. i did learn how to exist off of $10 a week on groceries, that doing food not bombs pickups on bikes was possible and fun, that getting into a minor bike-car accident could really benefit me if i was pushy with their insurance. i learned how to rip off the school book store for a small portion of the amount they ripped me off for, how to cook with spices other than soy sauce, that i definitely did not want to ever be called an emo kid, i found out about natural birth control methods and used it successfully for 1+ years, i learned about politics and stencils and the joy and texture of wheat paste.

I once named a character Merideth Young in tribute to John Green’s Alaska Young.
