The teenage mermaid was empathetic. Squidward rarely is consoled when he was so down. He would have shut himself away if he knew he would fall apart so quickly in public like this. Mason can’t help but feel as though he’s being THREATENED. Unfortunately for all involved, the Gleeful twin simply didn’t believe that Rachel was a threat to him. She damn well COULD BE, of course, NOTHING in Gravity Falls was ever what it seemed, but that wasn’t going to stop him.
