Make it a Combo #9
Hi everybody!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these. But, I just felt like I should share these little combos we discovered quite accidentally a little while ago. I dunno, I guess we probably weren’t the first people on Earth to figure these out, but I’m not doing any research into this.
The first card in our recipe is Aphetto Alchemist:
This is a great little wizard for any Blue deck. Being able to untap your Sol Ring/Gilded Lotus/Commander/whatever is an extremely powerful ability, and since it’s mono-blue it’s easier to use than similar cards like Kiora’s Follower. But, it’s very different from other creatures-that-untap-things in that it can target itself. Normally this isn’t very useful, but here are a couple ways to exploit this:
1. Illusionist’s Bracers
Since the Alchemist’s ability isn’t a mana ability, it will be copied with Illusionist’s Bracers. That means it can untap your mana rock of choice as well as itself. Boom, infinite mana!
2. Mesmeric Orb
Why bother with infinite mana when you can just win? I guess there are a lot of ways to mill yourself out quickly, since I seem to keep coming across new ones. Similar to Basalt Monolith, Aphetto Alchemist can tap and untap itself all you want, so you can dump your entire library into your graveyard and win with Laboratory Maniac.
And there you have it! I’m sure there are other things you can do with Aphetto Alchemist, but these are the ones I’ve thought of/seen in games myself. Even if you don’t want to use it as a combo piece though, it’s still an excellent little Blue card that could really find a home in any Blue deck.
i started out wanting to make a King Macar deck and somehow ended up making a reanimator deck that includes Blasting Station in an infinite combo and also does not have king macar in it :P
mesmeric orb is a really cool card guys
this plus my Grinding Station eggs deck continues the trend of not being able to make a deck with all the stations in it but instead making a deck for each of the stations. I am So Excite.
