I got behind in posting so here’s the weekend in three posts: Friday night: MESSIAH OF EVIL A young lady, Arletty, goes to the mysterious sea-side town of Point June to look for her father who's gone missing. The movie is probably summed up best by a line from a police officer: "We're not really a tourist town and strangers only bring trouble." Arletty soons meets Thom, Toni, and Laura who move into her father's empty hosue with her. Weird things happen. The town feels abandoned but townspeople can be seen moving about in the distance or maybe just staring at the sun or lighting bonfires on the beach or eating all the raw meat in the grocery store... Yep, this movie definitely has some zombie/vampire/wtf vibes to it. The storylines are a little muddled and character motivations are unclear. The film is LUSH though: the cinematography is gorgeous; all the actors are pretty/striking; the colors are just lovely (the blue skies in particular are just amazing); in fact, each scene almost looks like a painting. Not a movie for you if you want lots of violence and gore and sex, but definitely a movie to seek out if want something that looks great with exquisite pacing with a definite building sense of dread...you have to seek this out. I watched it on YouTube but there are DVD releases of it. From the same people who brought you HOWARD THE DUCK and wrote the screenplays for AMERICAN GRAFFITI and INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM. #youtube #31scarymovies #messiahofevil #willardhuyck #gloriakatz (at Waukesha, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CG0q4AEgw-D/?igshid=1np4ujwzi3rem
