Messy:Media's Custom Toxic Avenger Munny for 'When The Lights Go Out' @ Bottleneck Gallery, 4/12!

NEW POST: Now there's a face that not even a mother could love! New Jersey's first super hero is BACK and looking gooier than ever as a killer custom Munny by Messy:Media's Adam Whitnall. Created for the When The Lights Go Out exhibition at Bottleneck Gallery in Brooklyn, ol' Toxie "should glow like a motel bedspread once the gallery have him in place beneath their black lights," Whitnall writes. ...That's a whole lot of UV paint. When The Lights Go Out is a group show featuring more than 60 artists exhibiting artwork that glows in the dark, in a gallery completely outfitted in black lights. That's definitely an event I'd like to see. What's more, a portion of all proceeds from Bottleneck's solo and group exhibitions go to charity. So if you find yourself in Brooklyn this Friday, pop by Bottleneck (60 Broadway, Box 8 Brooklyn, NY 11249). messymedia stickers arriving tomorrow

I decided to knock up some quick sticker designs to have printed and then send out with orders, FB competitions etc... This first series features 2 versions of the logo along with the vegan zombie mascot, 2 versions of the logo and logo monster character and 4 with different photographs of sculptures along with my logo.

Spent the last couple of hours sculpting the Robobunny breastplate... Not happy with it. Starting again.

SIR INKWELL (THE GENTLEMAN SQUID)

Sir Inkwell (The Gentleman Squid) was simultaneously my first Android custom and my first commission. He's now living in his new home in Ukraine with a hell of a lot of custom Android buddies.

The Sir Inkwell sculpt started life as a simple squid (with a slightly phallic head - earning him the nickname of 'Cocktopus'!) until my better half suggested I give him a bushy moustache. The 'stache turned out really well - considering it was the first time I'd attempted to sculpt hair - but seemed to be lacking something. Early on in the sculpting process I curved the front-right tentacle so that he could be holding something if I decided to accessorise him, which I did with a rather neat looking cigar!

"Adam "messymedia" Whitnall has been slowly building up his prowess as a customizer, honing his skills at sculpting and painting until he was satisfied… then he waited for the rest of the world to catch up. Why we don't all know who this guy is confuses me, because that beautifully sculpted squid — "Sir Inkwell (The Gentleman Squid)" — started out life as a 3-inch Android figure!?!"
