Watermelons, Metallica, and Gallagher...oh my.
What do you get when you combine watermelons, Metallica, and the comedic wits of Gallagher together? An incredibly awesome show...duh. And who created this recipe for success?...a band called Metallagher. Are you still confused about how these three things could be smashed together under one roof? Check out their promo video HERE. It's kind of old (circa 2005-I can't believe that's considered old), but it does the trick. You'll get a nice little Metallagher experience from the comfort of your own home. But don't get too comfortable. In order to get the full experience, you have to see it with your own eyes. Lucky for you, they're playing a show at The Echoplex on March 31st. Believe me, you don't want to miss this combination.
The group created this ingenious concoction around 2005. Since then, they've played at festivals such as SXSW and Fun Fun Fun Fest. The basic premise of their act is that the band plays Metallica songs while the front man, who takes inspiration from well-known comic, Gallagher, brings the audience into a frenzy using very unusual ways. One of their best known methods is when he smashes watermelons on stage and throws it out to the crowd. Other props include skates and motorized desks. I won't tell you too much...that will ruin all of the fun. What I will tell you is that the audience is a part of the show, so don't come expecting to be an innocent bystander. That's not what these guys are about. You're going to get dirty, sweaty, and covered in watermelon juices...but those are just the obvious signs to a great night.
