Metal Roofs - How do they last long?
In the era of 1860 to 1890 era “Terned Tin” roofs gained most popularity in the Mid Atlantic region which had 80 years expected life expectancy. In the last 20 years, our metal roofing company replaced many of these roofs that are over 120 years old.
The question arises how modern metal roofs last long? Basically they contain a popular substrate Galvalume plated carbon steel which was firstly invented in 1970 with the 50-60 lifespan initially. These plating were tested by metal construction of Association(chicago) in 14 different cities in varying climates and precipitation PH.
As per the varied temperature and humidity zones, these plating became apparent. The factor that affected the lives of these Galvalume roofs was difference in PH levels. Overall, the conclusion of the study was the average panel life expectancy for 14 sites was 139 years and it varied with different PH. After eliminating the highest and lowest, average life expectancy is 125 years. This average life expectancy is more than twice the 60-year life expectancy required by LEED v4.
Now, life expectancy becomes 180 years when coating is applied. Our metal roofing system, adding more years to these durable substrates. Get the Permanent Roof now, for more information you can check our website. Visit Now!
