Peter jumps the second he hears the familiar voice, quickly lifting a hand to wipe his eyes. He sucks in a quick breath, and forces a fake smile-- yeah, that’s not believable at all. Eyes are rimmed red, and his cheeks are puffy, and his chest hurts. Throat tight, breathing is a lot harder, and as if that wasn’t enough, Peter’s face flushes with sudden embarrassment. He didn’t expect anyone to find him here, perched on a rooftop with his legs dangling over the edge, especially Mr. Stark. He wonders if his mentor was just nearby, or if he somehow knew something was wrong. Either way, Peter doesn’t want the other to see him like this, doesn’t want Mr. Stark to think he’s PATHETIC.
“Um-- no, no-- I’m not, it’s just--” He clears his throat, avoiding eye contact. “Nothing, it’s nothing.” He doesn’t even know why he’s like this. It’s just been a tough day, with how he was barely able to sleep through his nightmares, and constantly being on edge in school, to the point where he could hear every single noise ringing through his head. It was too overwhelming.
“I’m fine..what’re you doing here?”
THE TIME STONE IS THE one left of the six that steve must return. when he attempted to return the soul stone, he HOPED that a bargain could have been made to bring natasha back. but it failed. she was gone. his heart mourned for her. two of his best friends, dead. and there is nothing steve could do about it.
cobalt hues drop to look at the green gem. there is a lot of power in the small device. not to mention several avenues he could take should the american patriot desire to be selfish. BUT STEVE RARELY GIVES INTO THOSE DESIRES. it’s not who he is. but the more he thought of the events that lead him to this point, the clearer his destined path became. taking a breath, using the suit, steve jumps in time, back, to a critical time in his life…and tony’s.
2017
steve isn’t sure if this is the best year to come. but time and options are limited. he, natasha and sam are on the run, bucky is in wakanda and steve isn’t too sure what tony is up to. if anything, the guy is off making world changing inventions. so the best place for steve to look is the avengers facility.
it’s as he remembers it. standing tall and proud. he smiles to himself as a flood of old and happy memories bubble to the surface. his chest aches as he thinks of the path their lives are going to take. at least he can give himself some small amount of peace. TO SEEK TONY’S FORGIVENESS. to make amends for the wrong he has done. the man takes a shaky breath and breaks his way inside.
steve of 2023 is harrowed and older looking. sandy blonde locks a more fair color. he’s hoping tony will notice right off the bat and know what sort of situation they’re in. of course, steve won’t admit anything out loud. just apologize.
labs are his best bet. it’s where steve starts. no doubt his presence has been detected with his B & E. BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT.
he sees a frame that is all too familiar. what resolve he had quivers in fear. he has no idea if tony will leave listen to him. taking a breath, he steps in.

she found herself in the BATTLE OF NEW YORK. why? that was a story for a different time. what was important was that tony stark was there too, along with a few other world-savers. she knew she shouldn’t. she knew she shouldn’t interfere, but when you’re travelling through different dimensions, you were homesick, and you MISSED your dead father, well....
bad move morgan. this was a baaaad move.
“you haven’t failed. but you’ve got some time.” she quickly yelled, hopefully CAPTURING his attention before he regrouped. time. time, the one thing that they never got to have together. THIS was a good moment. a... particularly violent moment, and one that she shouldn’t interfere with, but... a good one nonetheless. there was no urgent business.
“I know what you’re doing. I know where you’re from. I-” the words almost got stuck in her throat, but she pushed past it, forcing a smile. “i can’t tell you. if you succeed or not. but. just. give me a few minutes with you. please. that’s all I want. just a few minutes.”

There’s a knock on his door, a frown upon his brows -- no one ever comes here. His fingers tighten around the shield that rests against the wall before he opens the door. Mouth slightly drops open but he quickly pushes a smile on his lips, stepping on the side, ❛ Tony, hi ! Would you like to come in ? ❜ For a second, Steve wonders if something is very wrong or very right.
