First impression: ANGEL! BABY! I LOVED HER FROM THE MOMENT SHE APPEARED ON SCREEN! I didn’t get into Avatar in general until just after LOK ended, so I knew going in that Korrasami was gonna happen. I think my first impression might have been different had I watched from when it started airing and (call me petty) thought she was a straight woman.
Impression now: You can probably tell by my URL and icon that she’s my favorite character in all of Avatar. Yes, there are characters who are more developed than she is, and given more screen time than she got, but everything about her character and the potential to explore that was missed in the show but can be gleaned with a bit of digging is like it was written to appeal directly to me lmao. I love her SO MUCH 😭
Favorite moment: In the show it’s the classic moment when she shocks Hiroshi and kicks the other guy’s ASS. One that’s standing out too is in Ruins of the Empire when she rigs Kuvira’s outfit and remotely electrocutes her like....the innovation...when I tell you I lost my mind......
Idea for a story: 1) A fic chronicling what she got up to in the three years between Book 3 and Book 4, featuring her emerging feelings for Korra and her work on Republic City’s infrastructure (I know a fairly popular fic with this exact premise exists but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet) 2) Something I just mentioned recently, an AU where Hiroshi is killed in the triad attack and Yasuko takes over Future Industries and raises a reluctant and non-believing Asami in the Equalist movement.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t think I have one? If I do I’m blanking :/
Favorite relationship: Korraaaa
Favorite headcanon: I hc that despite how glamorous she is and how comfortable she seems in formal settings/galas/parties, she didn’t have a lot of high society friends, or friends in general, growing up. Sure, she had girls she would meet at soirees, socialite daughters of other wealthy businesspeople in Republic City, but she never truly formed meaningful friendships with them. Rather, I imagine they viewed her as weird, flaky and ‘holier than thou’ when she refused their invites to lunch or whatever the Avatar universe equivalent of country club golf is in favor of burying her head in blueprints and getting her hands dirty. She can maintain a conversation with them when she has to, but she’s an introvert, humble, a little awkward, and thus much more comfortable surrounded by machinery than people (except for her inner circle, which she didn’t have until she met the Krew). I feel like she would’ve gotten along much better with like, Future Industries’ engineers and mechanics.
