i definitely agree about the baggage of peter having recently caught an illness, but chronic illness isn't normally an infectious thing (apart from the obvious examples of aids/hepc/mono/etc). what do you think of the possibility/implications of peter having a chronic illness narrative more like space lyme or space CFS, falling outside of the (homophobic) infection tragedy genre? personally, i don't find it likely, but i'm curious about your thoughts!
I like that kind of vibe a whole lot better for Peter, I gotta say.
Especially if it’s explored in a way where it’s a part of him without becoming the whole Point of him (the way a dying narrative would). Something like him learning to trust the rest of the group enough to ask for help when he needs it.
“Hey, guys, I’m having a flareup and my joints are just Not Having It, so I’m gonna tap out of this next heist.”
Or being open about enjoying a particular kind of care and actually allowing them to get him hot pads or lotion or what have you.
That’s more in line with what we’re already seeing from his arc.
