A Love Letter to Myself

Dear Self,

For the past month I've been trying to find you again. I have defending my emotions for long enough. To be quite honest, I've been in denial. I could not bring myself to believe that this person I've always been, hasn't really been me. She looked exactly like the "me" I always envisioned myself to look like. I've been fooled. On that note, I'm back at the drawing board. I'm back on the chase, for you. This time, I won't let love distract me, or pain stop me. No matter what happens, I'm going to rediscover you again.

Graduation

As my graduation date gets closer, I prayed and asked God, "Why me? How did you allow me to get here. I admit, I did everything everybody else did. I danced with being a statistic, more than once. I went to parties I had no business being at, I drank past my limits, I made choices that could have ruined me, I dated every guy You told me not too, I set myself up for heartbreak numerous times, I dug myself into debt, I bought clothes and shoes over textbooks, I failed classes, skipped them, put in the bare minimum half the time, I changed my major, I pushed myself back, I fought You... I denied my calling, I ran, I cursed You, I.. didn't want Your plans, I didn't want what You wanted, HOW.. how, did You allow such a raggedy and broken soul like mines, to make it to see this accomplishment." In return He answered, "Daughter, I knew YOU. I knew you would try Me, and go against me. Most of the time, I was the One, who'd untie your shoes, you were destined to fall, it was in My will to have you at your lowest so you could come higher. You are DIFFERENT, you ran.. but it was right back into Me, you fought, but you SURRENDERED. I never took My hand off of you. I called you, to be great, you answered. You hurt, but you healed. Every time your heart was broken, you came and placed the pieces in My hands. I allowed you to see this moment, because you allowed Me to have ALL of you when you had nothing left. This is ONLY the beginning, daughter. You have no idea, how many moments like this are to come..."
