Metastream Guide (For Musical Stream)

Hi! Serena here. After conducting a survey about whether or not people would want to watch a musical with me, I found that almost half said that they aren’t able to download Metastream.

I messed up in the wording: Metastream is NOT a plug-in, nor does it need to be downloaded. All you need to do is go to the website!

(This can also simply serve as a tutorial for anyone on how to  use Metastream!)

Anyways, instructions are under the cut!

1) Go to getmetastream.com

2) Click “Open Metastream”

3) Choose your display name (username) and Language.

4) Click “Get Started”

5) Click “Join Session”

6) Enter session link (I will provide the link on the day of the stream)

7) You’ve now joined the session!

Here’s a quick tour of the different features and settings:

In the top left, you can see all the users currently in the session.

In the top right, there’s a queue of any other media that have been added to play afterwards. For the musical stream, there won’t be anything else there.

To bring up the chat in the bottom left, press Enter. If you want the chat to always be visible, press this button in the top right corner of the chat window.

This will move everything over to the right of the screen, allowing it to always be visible and accessible.

You can customize a few more things from the menu, such as chat timestamps and theater mode. Just click the gear icon at the bottom of the screen.

Also, if you want to stay in sync with everyone else, try not to pause. Pausing the video does not pause for everyone, and there’s no way to skip to where everyone else is, so you’ll be out of sync with everyone else.

Aight guys so as you might have found out rabb.it is probably gonna die soon, and everyone is gonna be looking for alternatives. I found Metastream and tried it, it works pretty nice. People also reccomend CyTube, but I haven't tried that one. Maybe a reblog and an opinion? I know lots of ldr couples are really enjoying rabb.it and tbh I had a breakdown today when I found out about it shutting down, probably others are feeling like that too.
