Ohwow, they're really pleasant. They knock on your door with a "Scottish Hydro-electric here to read your meter", you let them in, they quickly read the gauges, and then they say thank you before leaving. They're also happy to answer your questions.

I've never had the pleasure of dealing with one in person, and "pleasure" isn't me being facetious.
