          A SINGULAR BROW RAISES IN CONFUSION. it’s unbeknownst to him where this abrupt display of validation stemmed from , but it causes agitation to prick at the nape of his neck. crimson hues search her expression & though he discovers no true ill intent , the annoyance has already settled. palms clench into fists & find home within the depths of his dark jeans , circulating on a heel to walk in the opposite direction. 

          ‘ i don’t need anyone tellin’ me what i already goddamn know. OF COURSE i’m enough ; i’m gonna be number one. ‘

" don't go where i can't find you ! where i can't follow ! " eyes are begging , trembling from tips of ears to toes . she falls into him , burying her face in his chest and taking in his scent . " i love you , noctis ! you're my whole world ! i can't be myself without you . . . you're the light that pushes all the darkness away --- but . . . if you get swallowed by that darkness . . . 𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐂𝐇  𝐓𝐎  𝐇𝐈𝐒  𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓  𝐇𝐀𝐃  𝐇𝐈𝐌  𝐏𝐀𝐔𝐒𝐄  ,  𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐍  𝐀𝐓  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐏.  He  turns  slightly  ,  a  smile  on  his  face  as  his  hand  covers  hers.  He  could  hear  the  𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤  𝘪𝘯  𝘩𝘦𝘳  𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦  ,  see  the  pain  on  her  face  —  and  for  a  𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓  his  resolution  wavered.  His  hand  moving  from  atop  hers  ,  𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘮  𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨  𝘵𝘰  𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵  𝘰𝘯  𝘩𝘦𝘳  𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘬  ,  thumb  gently  stroking  there  —  removing  the  traces  of  her  tears  just  moments  before  she  buried  her  face  in  his  chest.  Arms  circling  her  ,  holding  her  𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐋𝐘  against  him  for  a  minute  —  giving  her  that  brief  moment  of  comfort.  If  it  was  𝘢𝘭𝘭  𝘩𝘦  𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥  𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳  𝘩𝘦𝘳  𝘯𝘰𝘸  ,  𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯  𝘴𝘰  𝘣𝘦  𝘪𝘵.  

𝐇𝐄𝐑  𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐒  𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐇𝐈𝐒  𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓  ,  𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄  𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐘  𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄  𝐅𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐊𝐒  𝐎𝐅  𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒  𝐒𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆  into  it.  It  may  have  caused  him  to  hold  her  that  𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄  bit  tighter.  𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵  𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥  𝘩𝘦  𝘴𝘢𝘺  ?  He  cared  about  her  ,  of  course  he  did  --  𝘣𝘶𝘵  𝘥𝘪𝘥  𝘩𝘦  𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦  𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦  𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴  ?  Not  to  the  extent  she  did  ,  and  not  as  though  it  mattered  either  way.  This  wasn’t  something  he  could  escape  and  it  wasn’t  fair  on  her  to  give  her  false  hope  either.  

❝  You’ll  be  fine  ,  Ichigo.  I  promise.  ❞  His  voice  was  gentle  ,  reassuring,  so  he  𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐃.  ❝  Trust  me  ,  you’re  stronger  than  you  know  you  are.  You  don’t  need  me  by  your  side  to  flourish.  ❞  He  sighs  ,  before  pushing  against  her  shoulders  ,  forcing  her  back  from  him.  ❝  I  wish  you’d  believe  in  yourself  the  way  I  do.  ❞  And  𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩  𝘢  𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭  𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦  ,  𝘩𝘦  𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘴  𝘩𝘪𝘴  𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬  𝘰𝘯  𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮  𝘢𝘭𝘭  —  heading  towards  the  Crystal.  Hand  outstretched  ,  he  didn’t  know  𝐄𝐗𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐋𝐘  what  was  in  store  for  him  ,  but  regardless  —  he  knew  he  𝐇𝐀𝐃  to  face  it.

Fang had just had a bit of a drink when she heard the shenanigans that kicked up. Raising a brow, she shifted her tumbler of coffee to the side only to raise a brow toward Ichigo.  “Oh really now?”
