Hey! Something that I dont get is how Mr Adachie claims it's based off of the Japanese company to continue the BMS series? Like wasnt he the one who created it and came with the idea? Why dosent he have rights to it?
All that stuff about rights are somewhat complicated in this situation. Especially when we are used about authorship.
Beyblade is commercial. The manga/anime exists to promote the beys and increase the sales (I have to confess it absolutely works on me 😅)
First, the TakaraTomy design the beys. Then, they search and choose a mangaka to create a story featuring these beys.
Takafumi Adachi was hired by the TakaraTomy to draw a story, with characters using the beys of the metal generation (Pegasus, Leone, L-Drago, etc) then of the synchrome one (Ifrit, Salamander, etc). He creates the characters and the story, but Beyblade as a franchise is owned by the TakaraTomy. They are the ones with the decision-making power. Takafumi Adachi was allowed to draw/write MFB as long as the contract was going on.
But TakaraTomy decided to stop the metal/synchrome generation to start the burst generation. They searched another mangaka to create a whole new story, with different characters, world and scenario.
Thought the characters and their story are Takafumi Adachi's, Beyblade and its copyright belongs to TakaraTomy. Without their authorization or their request, he can't write/draw new adventures for our beloved bladers. There would be legal issues. He can just wait for them to decide to rerun Beyblade Metal Saga... if they decide to.
I hope it was clear. I've the impression it was somewhat muddled up...
