School (2017) My Father Is Strange (2017) A Business Proposal (2022)
When you were casually scrolling through the internet and then find out Jung So Min and Lee Joon are dating
THE FAMILY COMPLIMENT BOMBING JOONG HEE FOR HOW HE HANDLED THE PROPOSAL IS SO CUTE 😭 And I just noticed that Mi Young was looking at her parents the entire time 🥺🥺
I LOVE THEM
I forgot about this cuteass moment
god i love my father is strange so much. the dynamics between the family members were multidimensional. a lot of the sibling’s behaviour corresponded so perfectly to their role in the family that I could actually see it reflected in my family. the writer had a lot of respect/awareness towards the intricacies in a family relationship and it showed. like how families hold their tongue towards things that need to be heard because they’re not things that should be said. how when someone fucks up but everyone forgives them after they fight it out. the byun parents lived their lives so well to the point where they became their kids’ pride and guiding light and it manifested in both good and bad ways. guilt, when they weren’t doing enough. the siblings can all read each other and decide if they need to tiptoe around something or be direct.
my favourite example was when they found out what their parents did. everyone got angry, but their parents let them be. everyone else told the others not to be angry, but they all admitted in private that they completely understood why and ultimately let each other be angry anyway. everyone had that chance anyway. that displays several levels of dynamics that i dont even know how to begin elaborating. it’s a family that fucks up and lets each other breathe and stubbornly sticks to their own rules but everyone accommodates everyone somehow.
the writing of the main family in MFIS is amazing THANKS FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK
