The walk of shame, featuring an Utterly Mortified Jack
(Update: here's some more inner dialogue)
#45 for the hands prompts (jack/phryne) // #20 for touching // and #22 for the kiss in the rain we were robbed of in crypt of tears
Kisses #22: kisses in the rain
(yes, we were robbed)

"Or you can thank me."
It had slipped out unbidden, like most things he did and said around her.
She looked up at him as though she thought she’d heard him wrong, and Jack was thoroughly captivated. She was breathless and completely drenched from her chase, and the way her hair was plastered to her face reminded him of Queenscliff. For a moment, it almost felt like they were back home, back to what they had been.
He couldn’t resist a small, goading nod.
Her disbelieving gaze turned into a delighted smile. His own mouth moved to mirror hers, grinning like he hadn’t done in months, and he saw her eyes take a very familiar detour down to his lips.
“I put out the fire!”
Both of their heads swivelled to face the other end of the alley. Jack swallowed and licked his lips, almost able to taste what had nearly been.
What a fool he was, allowing hope to bloom so quickly. They weren't in Melbourne, and they weren't back in step. For a moment, he had forgotten how much had gotten between them.
“Well done, professor,” Phryne called after a moment. She turned her head to face Jack again, still smiling, but the spell was broken. He could only stare at her.
“Well done...” she echoed without looking away from him.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the professor turn and stumble back to the antiques-warehouse.
With one last loaded look to Phryne, Jack turned to start walking back too. Back to the case and to working together. Back to not allowing himself to hope that she —
She grabbed his arm.
"Jack..." she spoke, and when she tugged him back to her side, her eyes held the same hope he had tried to stop himself from feeling.
"Phryne," he murmured in disbelief, and then his lips were on hers.
He threaded his fingers through her wet hair and let her tug him closer by his lapels, moaning when he felt her hands on his nape.
When they finally parted, she didn't go far. He nearly closed his eyes at the caress of her hand on his cheek, but he didn't want to look away from her even for a moment.
"I was hoping you'd do that," she admitted. "So very much, Jack, but I didn't want to presume that you still — "
"I should have done that the moment you stepped off the damn aeroplane," he said, and she let out a breathless laugh.
They were far from Melbourne, but they were still Phryne and Jack, and their waltz would continue.
Hello!!! Touching #42 for Phryne and Mac or Touching #10 for Phrack, please! 🥰
Helloooo! Hope you like it :D
Touching #42: braiding the other’s hair
--
The atmosphere at the club was not satisfactory, so they soon returned to Phryne's parlour. Some drunken revelry and dancing later they were both ready to collapse with exhaustion.
Now, one very dishevelled doctor lay on her back on the parlour rug with her head cushioned on Phryne's lap.
Phryne threw back another drink and smiled down at her closest friend. "Ma-ac," she sang. "Your hair is falling out."
"That's your bloody fault," Mac muttered, "for giving me so much grief."
"Nooo," Phryne laughed, swaying sideways to place her glass on the coffee table. "I meant, your hair is falling out of your hairdo."
"Still your fault."
"Let me fix it for you."
The fiery strands slipped through her fingers as she tugged Mac's hair loose. She hadn't done that in years, but it felt wonderful and familiar all the same.
"It doesn't feel like you're fixing it," Mac said with her eyes closed.
"Hush," Phryne said, combing the hair with her fingers and starting to plait one side. "I'm making it even better."
Phryne could see the motion of Mac's eyes rolling behind her eyelids. She smirked. Mac knew her all too well.
She dropped one plait and started on the other, and Mac opened an eye. "Are you giving me schoolgirl plaits?"
"Of course not," Phryne spoke, knowing full well her voice had gone up an octave. She pulled the two plaits over Mac's face, letting them cross under her nose to give Mac a moustache. "I'm turning you into a fierce pirate, ready to conquer the seven seas and the hearts of maidens."
Mac grinned up at her, always the fellow pirate girl from Collingwood. "Does that mean I get to have more rum?"
Phryne laughed, swooped down and pressed a kiss to Mac's forehead. "Of course, darling."
Hands (35) for Phrack, if you're still taking prompts, please 🙏😁
Of course! <3
Hand-holding #35: grabbing the other’s hand to pull them back to them
@a-wonderingmind's prompt fic from yesterday reminded me of something I've wanted to write for a while now, and it fits perfectly with this prompt, so... enjoy? :D
--
Wait if you're still taking prompts #15 from the casual touches for phrack please?
Of course! #15: washing the other's hair.
Sorry for taking so long 😅
if nobody has asked yet, vampire AU!
Thank you! This is my favourite WIP and if I could just get the motivation to finish one of the fics, I would be over the moon XD
This got a bit long, sorry.
Invitations:
Five times Jack has to invite Phryne into a building, and one time she invites him.
“I’m sorry, Jack, but I really do need that invitation,” she said, awaiting his reaction with an amused waggle of her eyebrows.
He couldn’t help but believe her, reading between the lines of her flippant words. But how had she gotten into Stevens’ house?
“Alright, Miss Fisher,” he said with exasperation. “Please step inside the station.”
bite and let bite:
A bunch of vampire!Phryne snippets, some of them episode related.
Mr Butler served their food, and Phryne caught the curious look on Jack’s face as he glanced at her plate. They were served separate dishes, and hers were of a decidedly red variety.
He caught her eye and glanced away, embarrassed at being caught staring.
“You can ask, Jack,” she said, humour lacing her voice. “I’m certainly not shy about it.”
He smiled slightly and nodded, waiting until Mr Butler had left the room. “You ate normal food the other night,” he said immediately.
“I did,” she said. “I frequently do, although it isn’t terribly nutritious for me.”
Vampire fic:
Someone is killing vampires all over Melbourne, and Phryne goes after them.
His eyes widened before a glimmer of mirth crept in. “Are you comparing yourself to a mosquito, Miss Fisher?”
“There are some grounds for comparison,” she said innocently. “I’m sure I’ve given you sleepless nights before.”
“Hmm,” he said with a shrug. “And I don’t know how to make you go away. Is there some kind of repellent I can use on crime scenes?”
Endings
A series of possible endings, because I couldn't stop thinking about them even though I haven't even posted one (1) fic in the AU yet.
He sighs and looks up, and his heart, although it has stopped beating decades ago, feels like it summersaults in his chest. “Phryne!”
The woman in question smiles back at him. “Hello, Jack!”
His chair clatters to the floor as he leaps from it. “You’re back,” he says into Phryne’s hair.
“Mm-mmm,” she hums against his chest. “It’s been too long. Last I saw you, you were still insistent that cell phones would be a passing fancy. You’ve always been a bit behind the times.” She disentangles herself from his arms to grin knowingly at him.
