Let’s be real… it never stopped. But with new season and new content WE ARE BUZZING. One of my favorite things from last season was reading through Eliot’s interviews because he provides glimpses into the world he’s built. In a recent interview he chats about the new magic in season 2 and the Camarilla. Discussion below the cut for minor spoilers about what’s to come this season (more like insight than spoilers but just being safe):
Two things.
1) New magic based on ancient lore. Aka - we’re going to have a blast analyzing the magic this season and I can’t wait. Get ready, nerds!
2) The Camarilla are a patriarchal Abrahamic institution and the “mother” mycelium is the embodiment of the earth goddess. The Camarilla and their leader (Albin Hearst) will be battling this consciousness of “Earth Mother” using their own form of magic which is an approximation of witch magic (and therefore sacrilege). So if anyone thought the Camarilla biological warfare plague looked like a corrupt mycelium… spot on mates, I think that’s it exactly.
Some other fun things that I didn’t notice at first and then were pointed out by @maplecroft - Raelle’s association with the earth goddess further solidifies her “lesbian Jesus” status. Hearst - the surname of the Camarilla leader - is an old heraldic family who’s motto is “for God and King”.
