While Kira is forced to cooperate with First Officer Garak's plans to assassinate the Intendant, Bashir suffers a traumatic incident that affects his friendship with Garak afterwards. Later on, Kira and Bashir return to the mirror universe with Sisko to aid the Terran revolution.
