PRESS: STATEMENT FROM SPD REGARDING CHIEF CHOI, ACTING CHIEF SON AND LOOKING FORWARDS
Following Chief Choi Jiwoo’s full return to the SPD, she has released the following short statement regarding Acting Chief Son Jooheon’s ongoing recovery and the status of various cases from the past two months.
She states loud and clear that the Acting Chief is to ‘return incredibly slowly to work eventually, having lighter hours to not only focus on getting better, but to spend valuable time with his family following the stress of the Valentine Killer case overall’. It’s also revealed that he suffered a shot to the shoulder, rather than the fatal shot many rumours are claiming.
On the now confirmed 22 missing, Chief Choi Jiwoo says the SPD is still ‘working hard to unearth the truth and find our children’. Since the attack on the small music festival in Gwangjin-gu, she reveals that two other venues have been targeted and that any upcoming festivals and concerts will have increased police presence. The grand total missing is now 27.
Furthermore, she touches on the state of youth across the city ahead of the anniversary once again of the passing of former Chief Lee Hyori this month. With ‘many vulnerable young people turning to or being forced into crime’, Chief Choi wants the city to ‘take extra care of our youth this summer’, with events continuing through the hottest months of the year to keep the young away from and out of gangs. Please stay tuned for more information.
