When I first enrolled in the class, I had no idea how hard you had to work. So when I found out that we had to do an exhibition and had to show off our art skills, I panicked realizing that I do have an overall theme for my future art pieces. I had a hard time figuring out what I liked and what I wanted to do for all of my art pieces. I had to really think about what I enjoy drawing and painting. I ended up going with a nature theme for all of my future art pieces. I made around six or seven pieces total this year, but I only chose to display five of them. I chose these five because they all fit my bright and nature theme. Unfortunately I cannot display them due to the Corona virus epidemic, but if I could have I would have them spread out so their eyes could wander and really take a look to appreciate how colorful everything is. I chose to make most of my pieces long and vertical because I liked the way that it flows downwards. However, I did include one horizontal piece and three smaller canvases. Just to give the overall flow of all of my pieces some diversity. I very much enjoyed my experience this year, and I appreciate how much Miss Kim encouraged me and made me do more. She opened up my eyes to see how little details can affect a whole painting and the overall mood of it. I will never forget this year in IB Visual art and I will forever keep these techniques and lessons with me. So thank you.

Cluster of Flowers Watercolor 10x8 (rough estimate)
This is my favorite art piece that I’ve made so far. I adore the way the flowers look and how each flower is unique in its own way. I had recently gotten a fresh new watercolor palette that had such vibrant colors that I had to use them for an exhibition piece. The piece itself is very colorful and bright, it makes your eyes wander all over the paper. The way each flower is different makes you think about the uniqueness in each real flower when you look outside. Within the painting you can see each paint and brush stroke.

Early Spring Forest View Tempera paint 10x8 (rough estimate)
This piece represents new beginnings and the calmness and vibrant energy of the forest. This piece didn’t have the opportunity to get revamped due to the Corona virus that happened. So this piece is unfinished. But it still has an okay look and overall finish to it. The piece is very unique and inspired by all of the nature that we are surrounded by. I really wanted to take a moment and capture the beauty of nature before it disappears in some way. And then the idea came to me and just like that, this piece was born.

Sill Life Watercolor 5X14 (rough estimate)
This piece is my first ever real art piece. It represents beginnings and the randomness that can come out of your backpack. It highlights how different placements can make your eyes travel and wander. It also features shadows and the painting has some sort of dimension to it that looks decent. Since this is my first art work I thought that it wouldn’t look good and didn’t represent anything, but if you really look at it, you see that it shows what high schoolers carry around in their backpacks.

Flower Arrangements Acrylic paint 5x6 (rough estimate)
These paintings were inspired by nature and the beauty of flowers. At first, I was only going to do one small painting, and that was the Rose. But then my teacher advised me that it wouldn’t stand out so much, like my other paintings. So I decided to do two more. They aren’t as detailed as the Rose but I think that they all compliment each other nicely. They really make you look at all of the different details in each, and then they make you want to look at the real thing. The paintings give you a sense of calmness and a life when you look at them.

Morning Sky Acrylic Paint 8x15 (rough estimate)
This piece is a representation of the beautiful early morning sky. It signifies light and the brightness and the hope of a new day. The painting idea took form when I woke up and had to go to school bright and early, as I was driving from my house to the school, I looked up and saw the beautiful sky. I captured a picture and decided to paint it. This is how Morning sky was born.
